Is there anyone out there who can give me some advice on a potentially embarrassing situation?  the basics are that a 'friend' has been bad mouthing my partner and I to all his friends and work colleagues, both professionally (catering stuff) and personal (involving other people).  My partner runs his restaurant (with a lot of help from me) and I have my office daytime job.  However the 'friend' has numerous work contacts that I share through different sources - and his work colleagues are my bosses clients

Question:  Do I get worried and if so what can I do (if anything)  to neuter any possible damaging repercussions that might crop up at my work (daytime)?

Any / all advice would be welcome (previous advice was very hard to take but in the end I followed it and everything is working out a lot better).

My thoughts are not to get worried.  There isn't much you could do/say after-the-fact that would improve anyones negative impression that they might have formed of you through your "friend".  But your actions can speak for themselves.  Be your most professional (which I'm sure you are always at your day-time job) and keep it up no matter what.  This, more than anything, will show those acquiantances of your "friend's" whether or not he/she knows what he/she was talking about.

Thank you for your advice.  It is exactly what I have been trying to do so far, which just goes to show I  was on the right rack.
