Governmet ID's

Does anyone know anything about general government ID's that would be used for getting government rates for hotels, etc.
We use the government rate when our employees go on travel status, but when visitors come here we usually don't pay their hotel bill. This time it is an exception and I booked these visitors in at the government rate, but they do not have any ID's.
I've asked our HR director for help and have not gotten a response back, any input would be greatly appreciated.
Happy New Year to all!

Chris,
I work for the government and when we have contractors who we put up at government rate, we either supply them with a letter stating they are working on government business, or if your state exempts the feds from taxes (like here in N.Y.), we supply them with a tax-exempt letter signed by our unit head. I've never had one turned down.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. Just to update you, all I had to do is call our Rep. at the hotel and she knew we were a government contractor and changed his status to No ID Required at the Government Rate. Which is nice to know. We have a couple of local hotels that provide this for us, and they say as long as the rooms are available they have no problem providing us.
Thanks for your help.

When I travel, I always stay at hotels using the government/military rate. Not once in over 20 years has any of the hotels (either in the US or overseas) ever asked me for my ID Card (although I always have it with me). When I make the reservations, I'm always told that I must show my ID, but so far, I just check in, and check out, no problem. It does surprise me that no one checks though.

Just an update, I found today the specifics I needed for the above. We are a government contractor, and the request was made to have a government rate without a photo ID required for a vendor of ours working on our systems.
I am in process of writing a letter to our Rep. at the hotel, requesting that these people be allowed the government rate plus taxes without photo ID required. As a government contractor, we have to pay all applicable taxes. Only folks not required to pay the taxes are those that have a government credit card or those that have a letter with their department letterhead on it on file at the hotel.
Lesson learned. Thanxs for all your help.
