April Fool's is almost upon us. Anyone have any good office pranks I can play on my co-workers?
Last year I didn't ge to wreak any havoc around here as my favorite holiday was on a Sunday, so this year I plan to have lots of fun (tee, hee, hee).

How about an electronic Whoopee Cushion? They are remote-controlled. A friend had one at work a few years back and it was funny. The little gadget attaches itself and can hide anywhere (under chairs, desks, etc) and you hold the remote control which has a little button to push to give the desired sound effect (if you know what I mean). Another silly prank to do is tape the phone receiver button down. When the phone rings, you pick up the receiver and it keeps ringing, etc. It catches people off guard, but they catch on quickly. I'm not into pulling pranks too much at work on April fools day, so I can't be much help. I try to get my husband at home, but he's too smart for me. SNA

Well, depending on how many admins there are you could all call in sick (leaving on the message machine) and come in anyway... double the amount of grinds in the coffee to make super strong take all the staples out of the staplers in the entire office hmmm have to think about this one a bit.....lol

Put tape over the ball on their mouse's. I had a co-worker do this to me once and I think the only reason I figured it out was because he had already hit up someone else in the office. Definately good for a giggle. Michelle

Unfortunately, we don't have telephones with the hang-up button ; we have a coffee vending machine; and I did the whole disconnecting the mouse/taping the mouse ball on someone's birthday.
However, I think I will use the stapler idea - only modified somewhat. Instead of just taking out the staples (that's too much work), I think I will hide all the STAPLERS (being careful to tape names on them, because I know people are particular about which stapler they use, for easier return later).
I came across two more goodies during an internet search:
Leave a telephone message for my boss that a Mr. Lyon (works with Anna Konda too) called and write the phone number to the local zoo as the call back number.
Dial one co-workers extension. Then while it is still ringing, conference in another co-worker's extension. Then have fun listening in on them (with my extension muted, of course so I can laugh all I want) trying to figure out who called who.
Oh I'm gonna have so much fun on Monday!!!

In my last employment I worked in a hospice. It was a fun place - not the solemn place you might think of. On April Fool's Day we would mostly make fun phone calls. Our biggest wheeze one year was to concoct a fictitious patient referral for our medical director. 'Twas wicked.

OK, here's a prank that was played on me a long time ago by a very good friend of mine. I used to work in the BBC Drama Series/Serials Dept in London (it produces things like Dr Who and Eastenders) and we were saddled with this really poor PR guy who worked in another building. His PA was very good and I talked to her a lot by phone about our programmes. One day - I didn't even notice it was 1 April! - I received an internal memo from this guy's PA, saying that a woman's magazine wanted to interview people with slightly different office jobs and as I had the job of juggling various production teams around the country, booking studios, booking actors calls etc, she wondered whether I would be willing to be interviewed. Well I phoned her up and she wasn't there so I simply left a message that I'd called. In the meantime, I'd shared the news with my friend Sue, then an aspiring actress, today she directs plays!, who seemed to think it was great. Later that day (after 12 noon) she asked whether this PA had returned my call or not. I said she hadn't, so Sue finally let slip it was an April Fool and that if and when my call was returned, I'd have to think of something else because she wasn't in on the joke! I really fell for that one! (BBC memos come unsigned on BBC paper which of course we all had access to) it's probably the best April Fool I've come across. Well I know it would give my supervisor a proper heart attack if I told her I was leaving the company!! In the first place we have two long-time staffers leaving this week, and in the second place I'm the only Word Processor (and she's my backup)! It would be so mean though!

Tape a black piece of paper on the inside of the computer glare guard so that the monitor can't be seen - hilarious!

Oh my gosh! I will never, ever play another April fool's joke on my boss again.
I just found out that ya don't mess with the master.
He emailed everyone he is supervisor over to tell us that due to a recently approved department reorganization, his position has been eliminated and we employees will be split up among other sections of the department. He will miss working with us and he hopes to have another job lined up elsewhere soon.
Then he wrote - April Fool's.
I about had a heart attack before I got to "April Fool's"! I was ready to start job hunting right away. I don't want to work for anyone else in the department. He's the best boss we have here.
I'm so glad it was just an April Fool's joke!

Wow, that's quite a prank!
I almost wish the e-mail we all received on Friday had been an April Fool's joke--one of the drafters who has worked here for quite awhile was let go. Personally, I liked the guy, as did many folks but well, he did have a reputation for a bad temper. It must have just gotten to be too much. The principals of this company are patient people and don't take firing someone lightly. Still I did almost think it might've been an April Fool when I realized what day it was this morning--but then I thought no, our office manager is not the type to pull a joke like that on Good Friday!!
