When was the last time you went to a networking event and what was it?

Mine was an IQPS meeting a couple of months ago. Although I did go to Times Creme, which was a form of networking!

Admin Prof Day, April 2007. My current company had never heard of it. I declined asking if I could go this year. I always get the impression admins are not rated eg. what on earth could they expect to gain from such an event?
I actually met someone at last year's event who is now a really good friend. She lives in the area where my family now live. We have been out socialising and a year on are planning a holiday together.
Who says networking events don't work?

I went to a semi-local IAAP monthly meeting in April 2007. If my immediate local area had a chapter I would probably go more often.
Our local Chamber of Commerce has a young professionals group that meets monthly that someone was recruiting me to go to, but it sounds like there is much more drinking than actual professional networking, which is not for me.

Can't be let out to network -- I have to mind the store while everyone else does!
