Hi everyone,

as I am on my way to start a publishing house with a former boss of mine, I was wondering whether all the books that you have in the US and UK about "being such a super-megalomaniac-excellent assistant / secretary / office manager" or whatever are any good....? So that it would maybe, just maybe, be a good idea to translate them into german and publish them here, too.

As it is, there are no special books for admin professionals in german, or they are very theoretical and "dry" (as we call it in Germany, and we must know how to call it, because its what we are. dry, as opposed to fascinating, interesting, or able to say hard facts in a way that they are easy to understand.) ;-)

I found some books on amazon, like "the new executive assistant" and so on... So, what did you read to become a great admin / assistant / secretary - and was that book any good? I want good and "bad" input here... thank you all!

Bye

The one book I can't live without is Complete Office Handbook Second Edition which is published by Random House.  I bought it 3 yrs ago when I first got this job, and I can't live without it.

Apart from books there are some useful newsletters/magazines for admin professionals. You can have a list of those from a recent post in this forum named "Secretarial Magazines" dated 28/2/2003.
