Free time?  What's free time?

Just kidding!  I had so much free time at my last position that I left because I was bored witless.

At this job (here just over a year now, and still loving it!) there's much less free time (hooray!) but on the rare occasions that there is I will catch up on "personal" emails or even more occasionally read an article from an online newspaper.  And see what's happening on DD, of course ...

I set myself a massive task at the beginning of the year to go through my predecessor's files - 6 filing cabinets' worth - and properly organise them and also to change the actual files she used.  She liked the type of files that joined together concertina-like which is hell on nails and also difficult to slot another file into without kerfaffing (technical term) around unlinking them.  About 4 drawers in I decided to weed out the dross etc.  I thought it would take 2 weeks.  It's now the last day of April and I'm only on Cabinet 5.  You would not believe the stuff she would file... "the meeting next Tuesday has been brought forward to 11am" - and empty envelopes.  I kid you not!!

Also, I will never have to order another paperclip or one of those plastic sleeve thingamijigs.

So, most of my free time is given over to that.  Luckily, it's one of those things that is easy enough to pick up and drop.
