I agree - staying one step ahead of my boss.
I've only been working for him for a little over nine months, but I am finally getting that feeling that I can anticipate some of his next moves.
Another thing is searching for tasks he currently performs that I can do and free up more of his time for business development. Of course, the more I take off his plate, the more time he has to promote our firm to clients; the more he promotes the firm to clients, the more projects we are awarded; the more projects we are awarded, the more he needs to me take over for him. So, the real challenge is taking the work and performing tasks in a smarter way to keep me from getting overwhelmed.
It can be a juggling act.
