Either I'm getting old or people are getting more stupid and unable to follow simple directions.
I left "closures" for several folks on Friday afternoon and each batch had a routing slip asking them to approve and return. I noted on each slip the number of closures and their "document" numbers. I picked up one batch a few minutes ago from my mailbox and only the top closure was signed. I'm ready to scream. Such a simple task and now I have to track this approver down and ask him to sign the second one. I find this kind of rework to be a complete waste of time and it absolutely frustrates me that people cannot read simple requests and follow them. Its the same with e-mails I send out. I'm dealing with 73 children and my bosses do nothing to back me up - its my job, as far as they are concerned, to hold everyone's hands. And I agree to a point but at some point adults must act like adults and read the information sent to them. I send out idiot proof instructions and if they take the time to look at them, they shouldn't need my help.
Ok, enough venting. I'm out of here in 30 minutes for the day and off to class this evening.
