I've done it.

I've finally done it.

After 7 1/2 years in this company, of which I haven't really enjoyed the last 3 years...

I've applied for 2 jobs... PA to Head of Dept., and Executive PA. They're both local. They both offer excellent packages.

And now I worry that they might invite me to an interview. I'm a bit rusty with regards to interviews. *big sigh* I've definitely been here too long.

But I've done it, and that's all that counts at the moment.

Fingers and toes crossed, Nickless.

Just remember - you know what you can do for potential employers, and if they invite you for interview they must be interested in seeing you.

I wish you every success.

Kind regards,

Raindance

Fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed for you.

If you do get invited for an interview be yourself and remember they chose you over the other applicants.

Before your interview you need to prepare a 3-ring binder with examples of your work for a "show and tell" at your interview.  In mine I have copies of my resume, examples of my work, certificates earned in the last couple of years and letters of recommendation.  I went to an agency and took their skills tests with the understanding that I could get a copy of my record and have also put it in there.  I had an interview on Friday and the book was greatly admired as that was a way to show what I can do.

Practice, practice, practice with a friend any and all interview questions you can think of (lots of websites on the questions).  It will hone your skills and make you think of how best to answer any and all questions they might ask.

Thank you all for your positive feedback and encouragement. I haven't heard anything yet, but will keep you posted if anything interesting happens.

At least now that I have got a few applications running, I do feel slightly better in my job. There's still hope that I might not have to stay there much longer.
