I've been summoned for Jury Duty! YIKES! Looks like Federal to me. They are allowing 40.00/day, 7.00/day parking, and .445 per mile for mileage. Now, that being said, I'm on call for the next 90 days. Which stinks, because if I get called to serve right away, then they have the right to call me back again within that 90 days. Has anyone had any experience on this they wish to share, so I can have some insight. The only bad thing about this whole thing is it's downtown. I HATE travelling downtown and left a job in the city to work in the suburbs closer to home. I wished it had been called in my county, but they selected jurers from 9 surrounding counties, mine being one of them so can't even use that as an excuse because my address is of another county. Well, that STINKS. The one time I was called, it was a county prosecution of a minor s*x crime and the offender's lawyer struck all the younger women from the jury with his initial strikes--that included me and I was free to go. Thank heavens. THAT was a story I didn't want to hear...

And the company only pays up to 10 days for Jury Duty, I hope it doesn't go longer than that. Did I mention I hate driving downtown . Diamondlady Peer Moderator

I've been called to report but thankfully didn't get picked for the jury (murder trial = sequestered jury).

Jury duty isn't so bad; in fact it can be downright interesting. I've been called 6 times and only served once, so the odds are in your favor.
Should you go through the voir dire (vetting) questioning, be sure to tell the judge of the limitations on jury pay from your employer. In my experience, they are quite willing to take things like this into account, and they should be able to tell you how long they expect the trial to last.

Serving on a jury is an important part of our judicial process and we should all want intelligent people to serve as jurors... but it sure is a pain, isn't it?! I've never been called for any level jury. Don't know why. I'm afraid that if I point it out to someone though, I'll be put into the "call every year" category. DonnaP99

Not that I mind, I really don't, its just that I wish it weren't downtown. I hate driving down there, especially since I used to work there for 3 1/2 years. I took the bus when I worked because I hated driving down there so much. Too many one way streets and no left turns, it's a big pain. Jury duty isn't so bad, it's just the getting there I hate. I'll be happy when it's over. Now, I can, on this jury duty be called back more than once. I just hope that it doesn't exceed the 10 days that the company allows to serve while paid. After that it's time off with no pay. Plus the 40.00/day of course, but still not worth it. Guess I'll have to let them know that if/and when I get called. One day at a time is my philosophy, and guess that is what I will have to do til this is over in May. Yuck! On the plus side, it will be Spring! Yeah! Diamondlady Peer Moderator

I was summoned for jury duty on Monday February 6. I have to call over the weekend to see if I have to go. I believe it is one day, or one trial. I get paid by my employer so it would be a day off from work if I get called.
