Ok we get the day off to be with family and friends and eat ALOT, but we also think about what we are thankful for and it is a nice day to actually stop and think about things you are thankful for.   I know there have been many posts in the past.  But for the holiday, what are you thankful for.

My job, (and all the great members of DeskDemon)
My kids, they are growing up to be really good young adults
My doggy oggy oggy and kitty
My friends who make me smile
My cup of tea in front of me, since I haven't had a cup in days!
My parents, who on Thanksgiving are a few states a way and of all the days in the year I miss the most on Thanksgiving.
I am even thankful for my sister and nephew.. can't leave her out and my nephew is the best nephew around!

Very basic but that is my list for today.  Everyone have a great day!

(Does the UK have a similar Day?  I know Canada has one in October)

I'm not aware of an equivalent in the UK, but here goes with the abbreviated list of things I appreciate and am thankful for:

  • Being healthy
  • Having a supportive family and close friends in difficult times
  • My dog - he is adorable but he makes sure I get out everyday for fresh scottish air (and boy is it fresh just now!)
  • Enough food and an occasional glass of wine
  • Having access to the Internet and a whole world of new friends and experiences through it
  • Owning a Pilates reformer
  • Not always knowing why something/someone happens in my life until it/they has worked magic (sometimes the most unlikely events/people bring positive changes when I might have not chosen it/them in my life)
  • Being able to sign the Charter for Compassion
  • Living in a beautiful place ...

Thankful for...

1) Health - most important.  Couldn't work or function without a healthy mind and body.

2) Being employed and sticking with a job I initially hated.

The UK does not celebrate Thanksgiving.  I guess the nearest thing would be Harvest although we don't get a day off for it.

Although it is day after Thanksgiving here in the US, I am always thankful for:

Family -because at the "end of the day", when it's all said and done, what really matters is who you go home to.
Health - We take itfor granted until something is wrong.
Being employed - in a job I enjoy, that challenges me, and working with people I like working with.

I'm thankful for:

My husband, and after 19 years of marriage, well I guess I'll keep him around a little longer Wink
My family, even though they drive me nuts
My kitties who are both such great cats with awesome personalities (if only they liked each other!)
My home with the fireplace, bay window and herb/vegetable garden
My chest freezer, which houses food for lean times and preserves the summer garden bounty
The contentment of having so much that I struggle to think of ideas to tell hubby what I want for Christmas.
The lovely crisp days (though I miss the fall foliage)
Christmas songs
The fresh chocolate chip cookies I baked this weekend
That my car is working just fine at the moment

My dh, my parents, my health and family's health, my mother in law (without her I wouldn't have a hubby!).
I'm thankful in this economy that we were able to pay off our house this year.  I have a wonderful boss and a good job, short commute!  I'll even throw in I'm thankful for my brother who help defuse the mother on occassion.

I really am a little late in posting, but I have a long long list to be Thankful for and not sure where to begin, but here is a start:

1st and foremost, my husband who is fighting a terrible fight of brain cancer and still here with us to celebrate.
2nd my folks who have been amazing helping with all the transportation they can handle for medical appointments for my honey so I can stay at the office as long as possible during the day.  There are weeks when we are litterally running...
3rd for St. Matthew Church where I go to mass every week, without their help with transportation I don't know where I would have gone for all the daily raidation trips for 6 weeks and continued help there.
4th for my cousins that live around the corner from us, they are always there, and ready to help whenever I need it and did all of our Fall leaves cleaning this year, and it was a ton!
5th and certainly not the least and I'm sure I'm forgetting something, for our cousins who have been helpful in so many ways to helping me run my 4 acre house while my honey is down and can't, and all the little chores they do from sitting with me thru two brain surgeries and helping out with his mother that lives with us while I'm unavailalbe.
6th for the Wilmot Center at Strong Memorial Hospital-without them, where would we be...
7th-for the best coworkers a husband could ask for driving him back and forth to work for months til he could drive for at least two months this year. they are truly amazing, his boss included in there...
8th-and yes I am going to publicly say this for Dales mother for calling me home to check on him when he had his blood clots at the end of October, without that call and the timing, we were lucky!
9th for a very understanding bossie that lets me take hubby to numerous appointments...

I'm so thankful my husband is still here, he has his problems to work on, and it's a difficult thing to treat, but, we're still together and able to celebrate 17 years of marriage this year.  For that I am extremely thankful...
