reddrogue, I also put out a dime for each family member with initials on it. My ex-husband's family is Irish and Polish and I got this tradition from them. The story goes that you are not supposed to spend the dimes, but hide them and don't tell anyone. If you do that, you can never say you don't have a dime to your name.
Holidays this year will be different. Kids will be with their father Christmas Eve and with me Christmas day. Haven't decided about food yet. New Year's Eve will probably be just me since I have no plans as of yet. Not sure what the kids will be doing.
