I finally got a call from a local company about a position they had open.  I went to the interview on Friday and it went really well.  The person I spoke with said I had a great resume with great skills, etc.  I think we really would work well together.  I had all of the experiences he was looking for.  I was told he had 2 other interviews after mine with the last one being Monday (which was hurricane day but I believe the company was open) and that at that time, I was on the top of his list.

Before I left after the interview, he told me I would know one way or another by Wednesday which is today.  I am going crazy sitting here at work just waiting for the call.  I told one person in the office because I knew she used to work for this company and wanted her opinion on the office in which she gave a good review.

My question I guess is, how much time after today should I first of all worry that I have not gotten the position and second when should I pickup the phone and call to see status?

Thanks.

A main thing to remember is that the hurricane may have delayed things a bit.  Even if the company was still open, the interviewee may not have been available because of it.  So I'd be a bit more patient than I would normally be.  I think it would be safe to say that you could do a call on Friday to thank them once more for the opportunity to interview with them and hopefully get some information then.  But it may be more appropriate to wait until Monday, because of the weather and the potential delays it may have caused.

But I'm sending good vibes your way....  {good thoughts} {good thoughts}

Good point about the hurricane slowing things down, I wouldn't worry too much.  I'm thinking lots of happy thoughts for you and hope you get the job.  Let us know when you hear something.

Thanks for your good vibes.  I got a call from the company yesterday afternoon but not about this position but their is another position open and they asked if I would come in and interview for this position.  Since I want to keep all of my options open, I said yes and will interview this afternoon at 4:30.  My only problem is that I am running out of reason for needing extra time off (my whole family have had doctor appointments and follow-up visits, etc.).

Please continue the good vibes since I really want to move on and already have the I'm leaving attitude and cannot concentrate while I am at work.  So I need this new position.

Thanks.

Are you temping where you are?  If so you should be allowed time out to attend interviews - after all you only get paid for what you work as a temp, no??

If you're in a perm job then yes it is more difficult.  Can you interview at lunchtime or after hours or first thing in the morning?

I am in a perm job and have been here for almost 3 years.  I have had a lot of interviews with agencies and a couple of direct company interviews over the past couple of months.  These positions are the only ones that really seem would be a good fit for me.  It is only about 5 minutes from where I am now, the company is very large and they seem to acknowledge their employees no matter what their position is.

My current company on the other hand has different rules for each person in the office (or at least it seems that way) and can change with mood changes of the current boss.  We are very rarely acknowledged when we have done something beyond our position and when we try to get acknowledged we are laughed at.  I cannot wait to get into a company that "cares" about their employees.

I totally know what you mean.  If I have ideas here they are certainly welcomed.  Even completing the MOS Master cert has given me favour with staff here - they know they can come to me for help/assistance if required.  Makes you feel you are making a worthwhile contribution.

Hope it works out for you!

Thanks me too.

I have been having a lot of very frustrating days over the past couple of week and really need to do something about the position I am currently in.  If I do not get one of these position, I will need to stand up for myself and talk with management about getting something done.  Unfortunately I cannot leave since I am the only one working (my husband is on disability) so I either need to leave with a new job or try to work it out here.
