Either I am being paranoid, or everyone seems to be on holiday! Did I miss the email invite again! .

It sure is quiet around here!
Yesterday (Monday) was our Labor Day Holiday in the U.S. And a lot of people take vacations around this time too.
It's also back to school time for people with children.
Just a busy time of year, I guess!

Hiya! I'm here (or maybe I didn't get the invitation either!).
It is very quiet at the moment ... but it is allowing me to get all those (boring) housekeeping things done - like filing, email deleting ... ugh. Makes for a really really long day ...

I'm here too and having an utterly frustrating day. Afterall, how difficult is it to understand "I need to know who is attending" when asked to order lunch for a group? I reserved the room for the meeting, added another meeting for the same group this morning when asked to ensure the room is book all day and was told I would need to order lunch for the afternoon meeting who would be the same group as the morning. However, I have not been copied on the meeting invite for the morning group or advised who has accepted and who declined. And this is just one hassle I put up with on a daily basis when none of it has to be if folks would just communicate and listen when I ask follow up questions. And my boss wonders why I'm ready to walk out without notice 4 out of 5 days of the week. And I am looking but unfortunately, the jobs just aren't there unless I drive 50 miles one way for a salary less then I make now. Michelle

Here here Jess, I was getting paranoid too. How is the job going? Oh and Michelle, I hear you loud and clear. I can't even get recruitment agencies to communicate with me. You should have an easier job with work colleagues but I never understand why people cannot reply to such simple stuff.

Either I'm getting old or people are getting more stupid and unable to follow simple directions. I left "closures" for several folks on Friday afternoon and each batch had a routing slip asking them to approve and return. I noted on each slip the number of closures and their "document" numbers. I picked up one batch a few minutes ago from my mailbox and only the top closure was signed. I'm ready to scream. Such a simple task and now I have to track this approver down and ask him to sign the second one. I find this kind of rework to be a complete waste of time and it absolutely frustrates me that people cannot read simple requests and follow them. Its the same with e-mails I send out. I'm dealing with 73 children and my bosses do nothing to back me up - its my job, as far as they are concerned, to hold everyone's hands. And I agree to a point but at some point adults must act like adults and read the information sent to them. I send out idiot proof instructions and if they take the time to look at them, they shouldn't need my help. Ok, enough venting. I'm out of here in 30 minutes for the day and off to class this evening. Michelle

I checked in yesterday and noticed the boards a little quiet too. Must have been the holiday. What a nice break.

Gee
Job going great - although some of my 'new' colleagues who have been here for some time think I am hopelessly naive (time will tell, but they have no idea what it is like nowadays to be without secure employment and especially in the current financial market!).
How is the search going? Something will come along - just keep networking!
Glad there is a little more activity on the boards now.
Jess!

Good, glad is going well.
Mmmm - agency frustration. Why when my CV is put forward for work and a few days later I phone to obtain an update only to find that the job has been presumably "filled" that the agency act as if I should have a crystal ball and know this?
I was livid yesterday and asked how on earth I was supposed to know a job had been filled if no-one informed me. I made it clear that unless I hear otherwise I assume my CV is still being considered for a role. The conversation went silent and I knew the recruitment consultant realised he had made a huge mistake in not getting back to me.
What is wrong with people? Isn't communication key in the role of a PA? So please acknowledge we are not mind readers and require feedback from you, not open loose ends where we assume that this or that has happened.
Oh and it's raining....again!

I hear you loud and clear. So annoying, but then they probably were not hired for their intelligence ... on second thoughts that is probably truer than I intended (LOL!).
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and have a spare umbrella, just in case.
Jess
PS, have you seen the dog that was thought to be a lion yet?

Excellent, loved that! Maybe I should start acting stupid. Who knows, I might get hired to do something interesting. No haven't seen any lion, not sure if a hoax or not. I'm still hoping to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, if it ever stops raining!
