Why do individuals go against policy when others have to follow it?

My daily tasks are made more and more difficult by travellers who want me to use one credit card for this airline, and another for a chain of hotels.

Not only is this frustrating, but all travellers are supposed to apply for and use a company credit card.

I have been asked to book flights for one individual who is travelling next week but as his personal credit card has reached its limit, I have to wait until he pays the bill and the balance is cleared.

I will then have to explain on the travel request form why the flights are so expensive and why the traveller did not give more notice for me to book flights.

I don't know, Gee, there's something about company-related travel that seems to bring out the "wheeler-dealer" in some people.  I know in the US folks have credit cards that earn them points for flights or upgrades and other cards have other benefits -- maybe that's what your traveler is angling for with the two credit cards?

I know that if I were in a position to travel for my job, I'd make darn sure to have and use a company card and not mix my finances with the company's.  But that's just me.

But even IF I tried to go that route, I'd set it up myself, not hand it to somebody else to handle.  I mean, if you're going to make it that complicated for your personal benefit, then YOU deal with the headache!

Thank you Katie, I was about to tear my hair out earlier, but am quite fond of it! Wink

You are so right.  Most of my travellers collect loyalty points for this n that.  Personally I'm with you...why have the headache or be out of pocket when you can put all your business travel on a company credit card instead of your own?

The downside manifested itself this morning when my traveller in question realised his personal credit card was maxed out!

I try to tell them this, but do they listen? Roll Eyes
