My dear office-mate, who mentored me on my job, announced today that she's given her two-week notice. She's not unhappy with her job or co-workers in particular, but since she's been in shipping for 18 years, she's ready for a change. Well, that's certainly understandable! I'm really going to miss her though. In fact, our daily banter has been one of my favourite things about going to work every day. We'll keep in touch though--she's actually moving to another "branch" of the same company which is a few miles up the road (closer to her home, good for her), and of course there's always email!
Hopefully they'll find someone just as nice, smart and competent to take her place!

I'm sorry your office-buddy is leaving, Ozzie, but I guess that's life and I hope her replacement is equally congenial.

As for her replacement - what about you applying for her job?  Would it be a promotion for you?

Sorry for you Oz, but congratulations to her.  And yes, what about you for the position, if it would be a promotion?

It's so tough to see co-workers who are friends leave.  But sounds like you will be able to stay in touch - always a good thing!!

No, I'm just getting to the point where I'm comfortable in my position so I'm staying put for now. I'm sure I'll be involved in training the new person, though, as there is a lot of crossover in our positions.

Hey Oz!  I feel for you.  The situation of losing a beloved co-worker is always difficult.  Let's hope that you will have a new co-worker that you will get along with equally well and the promise of a great new friendship.
