Just wondering how my DD friends feel about this topic.  Do you love what you do?  Do you have a drive and willingness to show up every day and make a difference?  If you've lost the passion, how do you get it back?  Do you think it has alot to do with the chemistry / partnership you have with your executive and co-workers?  Your thoughts.......

When I started in my current company, I struggled.  I wasn't busy nor being challenged, however it was a job.

Less than a year later I moved departments due to a company re-org and found my feet.  I was working in a much busier environment where I was valued and in control.  My boss and his team got the support they needed and in return appreciated it.

Now 2 years later I face yet another re-org and uncertainty.  That said, I like the company and have made a difference.  I love coming to work every day but have no idea what lies ahead.

I hope my new boss/department will meet my expectations and keep me challenged.  Sometimes these things are out of our hands but we have to make the most of any situation.

Peaches, I'm struggling with this right now.  I'm so frustrated with some aspects of my job and they're overwhelming the "good" parts.  My creative side is being completely crushed due to my having to spend way too much time appeasing, appealing and arguing with our money departments with their ever-shifting policies and procedures.  It's almost like gaslighting -- some days I really do question my own sanity dealing with these folks trying to do what they want.  (I've been fighting for two months trying to get an invoice paid!)

I must confess, I had a bit of a meltdown last night at the thought of coming back here for another helping of this nonsense.  I snapped at my poor husband, which really made me feel awful when I realized it.  Some days, if we didn't need the paycheck and benefits so bad, I think I'd walk out of here and never look back.  Maybe if the economy ever improves........

I think we all have this to some degree at some time.  Just enjoy the parts you can and slog through the parts that aren't as much fun.  I try to find something to challenge my tech skills, how can I stump the IT department this week?
For me when I can't get out of bed and starting being really late it's time to move on to another position

Thanks for that, Atlanta -- made me laugh out loud!  I'm ALWAYS stumping our IT department.

I admit I was in a bit of a gloomy place when I wrote that.  I've since learned that I only have to put up with this accounting nonsense until the end of October and then it becomes somebody else's problem.   And that somebody will have the authority to go toe-to-toe with the policymakers.  Yay!

This is wonderful on a number of levels.  One, I was never supposed to be doing this in the first place.  I was basically picking up the slack for a job nobody else wanted to touch.  (Geez, wonder why.) Granted, that's sometimes a good way to improve your position, but not in this case.    Two, I'll be able to spend more time doing what I'm supposed to be doing -- providing more comprehensive support to my boss.  (Don't get me wrong, I was doing this other stuff with his knowledge and blessing, but that was out of sheer necessity.  It doesn't mean he liked it.)  Three, (which is actually 2a) I can work on things that play to my strengths and I can start getting some successes under my belt here.  (Wouldn't that be nice!)

And I'm taking a long weekend just to have some time with hubby and sort of get my head screwed back on straight.

Thanks my DD friends.  I needed that.  I have been on a roller coaster of late, well, the past year and a half, and trying not to lose my ability to let thngs just roll off.  Not to mention, the system changes and new procedures being forced on us every day.  If the new made sense and saved the co. time and money i would gladly be on board.  However, everthing takes twice as many man hours and we are already stretched.
