Is your Cat a Rescue Puss, either a stray or from a rescue centre? If so, why not enter your feline friend for Cats Protection's Rescue Cat of the Year Award?
There are four categories available for entry:
Hero Cat
Has your cat saved the day? Felix, owned by TV design duo Justin and Colin, alerted the boys to a house fire which could have been fatal.
Justin and Colin are fully supportive of this year's awards their support, saying: "We believe that every cat deserves a second chance, and that's exactly what the Rescue Cat of the Year Awards and Cats Protection is all about. Cats Protection volunteers rescued eight malnourished, emaciated cats in West Yorkshire, all of whom were simply covered in crawlies. All are on the road to recovery, thanks to the loving help from the volunteers. Is your cat the Ultimate Survivor? - Most Incredible Story
Take Ronnie. He was injured and had to have his leg amputated, but that didn't stop him fostering and becoming mum to a litter of kittens. Does your puss have an amazing story to tell? - Best Friends
This category is for all those felines who have made a different to people's lives. You may have heard of the first winner, Mitzie, who was an NHS volunteer at two hospitals. Last year's overall winner, Chrissie (pictured right with her owner, Gay Hadley), was abandoned in Stafford on Christmas Eve, 2002, and taken into a local animal rescue home. Her owner, Gay Hadley, choose Chrissie for her mother who was unwell and who had just lost her own cat. While Gay's mother was in hospital, Chrissie went to visit her, comforting her in her last days.
After her owner died, Chrissie went to live with Gay and her husband, plus their PAT dog Max and three cats. And Chrissie became a PAT visitor to the children's ward at Russell's Hall Hospital in Dudley. She takes her therapeutic duties very enthusiastically, and she is a firm favourite with everyone there.
