While your friends/family take their own sweet time shopping

While your friends/family take their own sweet time shopping
at the mall, here's a few things you can do to pass the time:
1. In house wares, set all the alarm clocks to go off at 10
minute intervals.
2. Walk up to an employee and tell him/her in an official
tone, "I think we have a code 3 in domestics," and see what
happens.
3. Go to Customer Service and put some M&M's on layaway.
4. Move CAUTION WET FLOOR sign to the carpeted areas.
5. Set up a tent in the camping department.... tell others
you'll only invite them in if they bring pillows from the
bedding department.
6. When someone asks if they can help you, begin to cry and
ask "Why won't you people leave me alone?"
7. Look right into the security camera and use it as a mirror
while you pick your nose.
8. Dart around the aisles suspiciously while humming the
theme from 'Mission Impossible.'
9. Hide in a clothing rack and when people browse through
whisper "Pick me!! Pick Me!!."
10. When an announcement comes over the loud speaker, any
announcement, assume the fetal position and scream "NO,
NO! It's those voices again!"

Ummm, hubby's actually DONE the alarm clock thingy......I can't let him out of my sight while shopping, 'cause if there's a way to cause mayhem, he'll find it! The best was when he got on a skateboard in WalMart. I didn't actually see HIM, but I heard a thud and a few seconds later I saw the board slowly rolling across the main aisle.....He also likes to change all the radios on the display stereos to the classical music station!

I've done the alarm clock thing too . . . while I worked at Wal-Mart, filling in for the guy taking his break who normally worked in electronics. (We didn't get along that great.)
Of course, I also remember getting back to fill in at break time, and all the alarm clocks are going off. Aarg!
Hubby will go in the toy section, and set off all the "talking" toys . . . not fun to be around when you there's 50 or so "night-time Ernie's" singing and snoring not quite in unison.

My DH and I change all the radios to the classical music station (just on general principles) whenever we are in that department.
We will also "shop" best buy (or their ilk), looking for stereo systems, and carry one of my Wagner opera CDs to test the system. Ride of the Valkyries from Die Walkure sounds REALLY GREAT when you crank to 12 or 15 on those systems...

When I was a kid and I would get bored shopping I would lie on the floor underneath the clothing racks (drove my Mom crazy). On the other hand, my brother at the tender age of 3 set off an alarm clock and pressed the emergency stop button on the escalator all in one shopping trip.

I usually do the weekly grocery shopping by my own self, but occasionally hubby comes along for grins (his, not mine).
I tend to take a while, because even though I go in with a list, I'll see things I want to look at/buy. I read labels. He, of course, wants to go in and get it over with in 15 minutes. That is, when he's not playing hide-and-seek with me in the aisles. We've also been known to make cat and dog noises when we get to the pet food aisle (no, we don't have pets, we're just nutty).
And I wouldn't even ask him to go shopping for clothes with me.
Of course, if he wants to stop at a sporting goods store and look at fishing stuff and I happen to be along ... well now, that's different.

The worst my hubby does on a reoccurring basis is play hide-and-seek with me. We're walking along, I see something I want to look at, I stop (mentioning to him "Oh, I have to see this") and he continues on. When I realize he didn't stop with me, I wander up the aisle looking for him. Occassionally I'll catch a glimpse of him as he scoots from aisle to aisle, laughing, as he "eludes" me in an All-Store Chase. If I quit, go on like I never was with him at all, he'll give up and go to the electronics section (or computer software section, or sports section, depending on which they have. If they have all of them, it's electronics that he's drawn to). I've done this 2 times in the past month and he now looks at me, pouts, and says I'm no fun. Sheesh! And I said I want kids?! One's enough!

CountriGal, your hubby and mine must have been separated at birth. You described mine to a "T" ... right down to the "overgrown kid" comment at the end!
