Thanks for asking, WS
Yes, this job is in fact my dream job. I should probably clairfy that it's not exactly fund-raising that I'll be doing... more like Fund Development. In addition to assisting the Fund Dev Director, I'll be coordinating meetings with potential donors, and educating the field staff as to how they can appropriately relate to the familes we deal with in the matter of donations.
Since there are 4 or 5 organizations like mine in my area, I feel comfortable telling you that the organization is Hospice. Many people familiarize themselves with the organization through a positive family experience.
I haven't had a chance to really get into MY job. Hospice has a huge orientation program, and I just now spent my first week at my office. The orientation was tremendous. I spent several days riding along with nurses, social workers and hospital coordinators. It was truly amazing to see the relationships these families have with their Hospice assigned staff.
Unfortunately, my first week in the office was shortened to only 3 days.... because I was in a car accident Wednesday night (we're all ok).
As to how my pregnancy falls into the mix... I'd have to say it made my co-workers remember my name easier, and it doesn't seem to "bother" anyone that I'm pregnant. There are 2 other women in the organization that are expecting as well... and I was able to get referrals to doctors and what not. My office is in a remote location off-site.... and there are only 4 of us in the building. I have the flexibility when I need it for Doc appts and such.... and, come October, I can even bring the baby into work for a few hours a day while I'm on maternity leave so that I can get in some extra income while at home.
Overall, I'd say so far, so good
