The Dreaded Office Potluck
«

In this age of "swine flu" has anyone noticed a decrease in office potlucks? Our annual Thanksgiving potluck is coming up soon, and some people are not real thrilled about it this year. Usually all we have to talk about is the usual suspects who don't bring anything, eat anyway, and don't even offer to help clean up!

We had ours last week. People were offended that were not invited, did not bring anything and just showed up....and the list goes on. All in all it turned out nice and everyone enjoyed themselves. However, just remember, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

I don't particularly enjoy them (for a number of nitpicky personal reasons -- like why does everyone have to make something spicy? And toting enough of anything for 15 people isn't exactly easy with a 20 mile, 1-hour commute), but they're a part of our office's "culture" so I throw together a simple pasta salad, smile, help set up and help clean up. I figure it's just part of my job.
