Association of Secretaries - Aberdeen Branch (Scotland, UK)
The Association of Secretaries was founded in 1979 and currently has over 400 members.
The Aberdeen Branch of the Association of Secretaries was founded at our inaugural meeting held in March 1989 and as at March 2002 had the largest membership of over 70 members.
A meeting is held on the first Tuesday of every month (January excluded) and Speakers' Secretaries always try to meet members' preferences with regards to interesting speakers. We also aim to have visits or outings throughout the year to give us a break from the normal routine. Our December meeting now takes the form of our Christmas Dinner, which gives us all an opportunity to socialise.
Our Committee consists of 9 members, some of whom attend the UK Joint Committee Meetings on behalf of the Branch, and from 2001 bi-annual meetings are held in both Scotland and England. This meeting brings together all the Branches throughout the UK to discuss future policies etc.
Our Annual Convention, which is hosted in turn by each Branch, is open to all members and the Branch is usually well represented. Aberdeen hosted this event in 1998 and was voted to be an outstanding success.
Every second year members choose local charities to donate their fund-raising to.
As well as the Aberdeen Branch, the Association of Secretaries has a further 10 Branches throughout the UK:
Scottish Branch Locations:
Aberdeen, Ayrshire, Central Scotland (Stirling), Glasgow, Tayside (Dundee).
English Branch locations:
