What is Conferencing?
Conferencing allows workgroups or individuals in different places to
communicate and meet easily and efficiently without regard to the distances
involved. Companies or individuals may use any one of four basic types
of conferencing: audio, video, data and web conferencing. These different
methods can even be combined for more effective communication. Benefits
of conferencing include:
- Improved decision making- critical decisions are made in a more
timely manner because meetings can be pulled together at a moment's
notice.
- Reduced travel costs- Conferencing allows groups to meet no matter
where they are located - without the need for costly travel.
- Improved communication- With conferencing, all involved hear the
same message at the same time, resulting in improved communication
with investors, analysts, the press, employees, or any group.
- Increased employee productivity- Because employees are not spending
time in airports, on the road, or travelling to and from a meeting,
or even recovering from 'jet lag', they are able to be more productive
at work.
- Shortened time to market- Rather than sending documents back and
forth for comments and approvals, work groups can review the same
documents or designs at the same time.
