On a recent business trip my boss's luggage wasn't forwarded to the right location. This was a trip to Munich so I get a call at 3 am informing me his luggage was not there. First thing I did was call the airlines and after about 20 minutes it the luggage was found. Problem was, it was never put on the airplane. It would take 18 hours to get on the next flight and brought to my boss. My boss needed a semi formal attire for an event he was attending that night. I called the hotel and was able to get a suit over to him in time and all turned out fine. I think the reason it worked out was due to staying calm (even though dead tired) and asking the hotel concierge. Has anyone else had lost luggage and how did you or would you handle it?

I thought this would be a good story to share

After reading what I wrote it sounds so simple. When it was occurring it was like the world was coming to an end!

I just was telling one of my stories over the weekend. Here is one of my... mistakes!

My boss asked me to arrange transportation for 5 members of the board of directors from the airport to the hotel in .. I think it was New York. I called the limo company and gave them the 5 names of the people traveling, the arrival time (most were on the same flight), and the destination (same hotel). I hung up thinking everything was fine! When my got boss got back, he told me there was a limo for EACH person, 5 limos lined up, not one for the 5 people and he was not happy about it. Somewhere in the process the communications was lacking. Well, since then I double check what I ask for to make sure what is needed is understood by all.

If you have seen the Devil Wears Prada you may remember the part where the two assistants had to help Miranda remember names. My moment of glory in the mess up file is similar to that. I had to help our CEO remember names at a charity fund raiser. Needless to say I gave him one wrong name and it was very embarrassing. But our CEO, being the good humored guy he is, laughed it off and continued on. I was so scared to go to the office the next day but in the end he was happy with the results and realized he would have never remembered the names with or without studying files.
