Dear ReadersSecretarial Newsletter Editor Penny Cottee
I'm delighted to welcome you to my second issue of ON!, which this month aims to give you a gentle prod! As we approach the festive break, it's time to start thinking about next year and the opportunities it holds for you. It's your chance to take a step back and think about how to realise those ambitions and plans you've been harbouring.
Is your job all you want it to be, or do you yearn for something more? Do you feel you want to move forward and yet are not quite sure how to, or in which direction? Do you spend enough time with friends and family, or are you chained to the desk long after others have left the office?
Here, we've gathered some thoughts on organising and balancing your life, in the hope that we will give you the spark you need to make those changes. From a look at the options open to support staff who want to bring some flexibility into their work lives, to some advice on assertiveness and making a business case for your boss, we're hoping to provide some stimulus for action. We also hear about ways of giving something back to the community without affecting your job, and hear from admin staff who've adopted new ways of working.
Also in this issue, don't miss the latest in our serial 'The Desk-bound Diaries'. Find out what's been happening in Kerry's world since we left her last month.
As ever, we're always pleased to hear your views and comments - as well as an idea of the issues you'd like to see covered in future issues of ON!. Just email me at newsletter@deskdemon.com
Happy planning!

With best wishes

Penny Cottee
