63% of Office Workers Sit for Six Hours or More DailyNew research reveals that almost two thirds (63%) of office workers spend six hours or more sitting at their desk, while nearly half of respondents admitted to not leaving the office all day.
Editor Comment: Interesting article - I know that I sit at my desk for very long periods. When I get immersed in something, have a deadline - it's often hard to take stock and think, I really should take a break. I'd be interested to hear your tips and ideas of how to have better habits - and of course, how long you sit at your desk.

2014 International Year of the Secretary and Administrative Assistant Launched
A group of leading South African PAs at their PAFSA association’s annual meeting launched two world-relevant initiatives for their profession and peers globally.
Firstly, announcing their intent to celebrate 2014 as the International Year of the Secretary and Administrative Assistant. The Professional Association for Secretaries and Administrative Assistants (PAFSA) observed that in 1984 such an international celebration was organised by a US based secretarial body known as PSI (now IAAP) and that 2014 would mark its 30th anniversary.

Women Naturally Adapt to Change by Dr Lynda Shaw
While women are naturally adaptable, it is sheer survival instinct, a can-do attitude and an ability to juggle which is helping them to cope in the current financial climate according to Cognitive Neuroscientist and Business Improvement Strategist, Dr Lynda Shaw.
In recent years many PA’s have had to cope with increased workloads, redundancies, fewer hours and less opportunity, but Dr Shaw says that women in particular are still successful in adapting. “Women are constantly reinventing themselves at every stage of their life. From launching their career, to becoming a mother, to the menopause, to retirement and all the changes in-between, women are amazing at adapting to their situation.”
