Squat down and get a firm grip and gradually lift using your legs. If you need to turn change directions, use your whole body, not your waist. To set the object down, use these same suggestions, except in reverse. Know your body’s limitation – Many injuries can occur when you least expect it, such as picking a pencil off the floor.
