You're on the right track when a venerable institution like the Microsoft MOUS
program decides to sponsor a presentation whose only goal is to tell Secretaries
in the UK what a fantastic job they are doing.
In an exclusive interview, Tony Fielden, Director of the MOUS program in the
UK said yesterday, "We're delighted to do it. A very large percentage of people
who take the MOUS Test are secretaries. They're seeking a way to enhance
their knowledge and their value in their employer's eyes, develop their own
personal sense of skill and learn new products to make themselves more atractive
in the Job Market. MOUS is a great way to do that. "
"A chance to say Good Job! To so many secretaries in the UK via an organization
like DeskDemon, who so obviously has a finger on the pulse of the profession,
was something we didn't even have to think about."
At DeskDemon, we think the presentation for Professional Secretaries' Week
is pretty great, featuring photos from secretaries all around the world, but
we also think MOUS is worth a mention here as well.
MOUS stands for Microsoft Office User Specialist, an affordable professional
way to certify your Microsoft Office Knowledge via the people who know it better
than anyone else. Microsoft.
Tests are compartmentalized, so you can take the sections you're confident
in first, and utilize study guides and other materials available via the MOUS
program to brush up on those programs you're not so proficient in. The end result
is a certification that makes an excellent CV point, and presented properly,
can add to your payslip when performance reviews come up. Additionally, they're
very affordable. No more trying to come up with ?400 to take a one day class,
MOUS allows you to quantify your skills on your own time, at your own direction,
thus returning control of your career path to you, rather than allowing you
to be dependent on your employer to provide training.
There are several companies in the UK who've realized how extremely cost effective
MOUS is as an internal training/testing tool as well, so we think you'll be
hearing lots more about it in the coming months, as the MOUS begins to Roar
in the UK!
