Title: ISO 9002 Post by: bethanial on July 30, 2001, 09:22:20 am Anybody here have any info/experience with ISO certification? Things are fixing to slow WAY down here, and Bossie wants me to look into what it would take to get the ball rolling on this. He's also wanting a list of companies/people he can talk to about it, find out the "real world value" so to speak. Just figured I'd start my search here!

Title: Re: ISO 9002 Post by: andrea843 on July 30, 2001, 09:43:06 am Lots of companies ISO certify, particulary those in the manufacturing arena. I'll go thru my files and send you some info but be aware, ISO Certification requires through documentation of the entire quality process and it's not a simple task. from answering the phone to addressing non compliant material, the entire organization undergoes a microscopic look by an independant auditor, which by the way your company has to pay for.
the production of the Quality manual is often tossed at the Admin, and be very aware that individuals and corporations often charge BIG american bucks to produce these documents and boiler plate templates (which can be had more cheaply or even self generated) are most often going to prove ineffective for the average company. Having nursed two companies thru ISO I have some info I can share with you but I'll need to dig it out from the remnants of the last computer crashes. :) Title: Re: ISO 9002 Post by: bethanial on July 30, 2001, 10:21:27 am Thanks Andrea. . . we've very briefly looked into it in the past, but didn't get very far b/c we were so busy at the time and bossie just didn't want to fool with it right then.
However, in the next couple of weeks things will be slowing WAY down (losing your biggest customer has a way of doing that). Just to clarify, losing the cust. was a "mutual" decision, and in no way related to ISO stuff. The manufacturing software we're currently using was designed with ISO certification in mind, to help make the process that much easier as far as forms and stuff being compatible with ISO. So now bossie wants to take a more in-depth look and see if he's really interested in it or not.
