Title: My printer speaks French - I don't! Help! Post by: workerbee on July 31, 2001, 09:51:22 am I don't know what happened; all of the sudden, the printer has switched from English to French. Fortunately, there are pictures, so I can figure out how to do what I need.
Does anyone know how to change the language back to English? Not a big deal, but our IT people are pretty busy, so I'd rather do it without bothering them. Besides, I know I'll get better & quicker answers here than at HP. Thanks, Elaine Title: Re: My printer speaks French - I don't! Help! Post by: radaro on July 31, 2001, 10:09:35 am Got me stumped. What about going to the "start menu" in Windows, then "Settings" and then "printers". When the printers folders opens up, right mouse click on your printer. Click on properties then "Restore defaults".
Just a guess Title: Re: My printer speaks French - I don't! Help! Post by: bethalize on July 31, 2001, 10:19:12 am If that doesn't work, we need to know:
What your printer is -make and model. What it is saying to you - exactly! translation.langenberg.com/ has some useful translators - type in what you need translating. Alternately, post here and we'll give it a go! Look for the button that makes it say "Langue" - that should give you some options! Doesn't it just bite when the office equipment is smarter than you? Your printer speaks french, my fax machine won't talk to me at all! Title: Re: My printer speaks French - I don't! Help! Post by: andrea843 on July 31, 2001, 10:19:18 am actually, in this case I might call in IT, even though they're all running around shouting RED WORM Virus about now. Why? because the switch maybe symptomatic of other issues.
Of course, the other option, if you have the discs is to go to settings, and remove the existing printer and then reinstall it, however, IT depending on how you have them trained, :0 may take a dim view of it. Title: I'll take your advice, Andrea Post by: workerbee on July 31, 2001, 11:30:42 am Just in case it's something more serious, I'll let IT handle it.
I appreciate everyone's advice; there are things I know and things I don't know. My problem (sometimes) is knowing when to get help and when to try to fix things myself. Elaine |
