Well, well, well....approved by line manager and approved by HR.
As well as the elearning tool I am progressing in work, I have also sourced an additional user guide that includes a cd of practice tests covering all disciplines of MS Office 2007. The plan is to take my first exam next month.
Ahhh no excuses for failure!

My only doubt was that my request would be rejected as it was not included in this year's training plans eg. my request should have been submitted in Sept 2011.
However, as HR have pointed out, the costs are not huge and therefore within budget.

Thanks Jess, I'm learning something new every day.
eg. Disable "mail desktop alert" in Outlook 2007...I was curious to see if you can do the same in 2003...and hey presto you can!! I hate that little window that pops up when new email arrives, it's soooo distracting.

Disaster!
Hard drive replaced recently and left with no Office software. Can no longer purchase Office 2007 which means I have no way of doing the practice exams at home.
Any ideas people? Is it worth purchasing 2010 or 2011?
If I had known it was going to be this complicated I wouldn't have bothered.

Can you know reuse your license number from the software on your laptop? We do it all the time, read the license isn't active on more than one computer at a time, but if a computer dies, the software license can be moved to another computer.
As for 2010, I just switched and I have to say I'm enjoying the differences. I have started an online tutorial even though I'm functioning fairly well. Once the ribbon placement of items was explained to me it makes sense. Basically your most used items are to the far left. Now would I want to study for an exam on 2010, not really I have MOS Word and Excel certification that should be enough.

You don't have the original discs?
Did the hard drive completely crash and that's why it was replaced? Otherwise, they should be able to clone it.

A little late on this topic, but if you're looking for books cheap, especially computer books for learning, try AllBooks4Less.com I have purchased a number of books from them at ridiculously cheap prices, and the books are new, but may be cheaper than the used books elsewhere. Granted, I haven't ordered from them in the last few years, so things may have changed, but I wanted to put that one out there. Last time I was on there, I bought a programming book, with CD's, that retailed for >$100 for less than $10.00, and everything was there. May be worth the look if you're needing something like that.
Gee... sorry to hear about the hard drive crash. Definitely look at your licensing agreement because normally you are allowed a desktop and portable under one license with MicroSoft Office, but that information is located in the fine print. If so, an IT person should be able to get a copy off your laptop and put back on your desktop unit. Good luck!

The software came with the laptop when I got it, so no discs. The software that was on the laptop before the hard drive was replaced, was not Office 2007. I now have a 2007 study guide with cd, but it's no use if I don't have the software installed. I thought the practice tests could be done as a stand alone application, similar to a cd of practice tests I obtained for my Office 2000 exams. |

Temporary workaround... - Downloaded Office 2010 trial since 2007 no longer available (why didn't anyone tell me?!) - Installed Hotmail Connector - Can now use Outlook and have added an external email account (hotmail) which is one of the topics covered in the practice modules for 2007 I am nothing if not resourceful huh?  |

You might be able to find a used copy of Office 2007 on ebay (or your european equivalent type of auction sites).

Have you tried the educational sites? I got 2007 for about £40 or so a couple of years ago when it first came out by using my niece's primary school details.
