We are having a St George's Day themed lunch in the canteen - menu, music, flags etc. Is anything happening in your office?

I'm in NI so no. Smiley

We don't even get 17 March off.  Celebrating these events can be a bit "political" in parts.

Sunflower, enjoy the grub/decs, but don't forget to raise a glass to Will S on his birthday too!

My learning path for the day, I had to go look up St. George, okay I knew some story about a dragon, now as Paul Harvey would said page 2 the rest of the story.  I'll let yall go look up Paul Harvey.
Here across the pond, I would say 95% don't know who St. George is so I don't think we will be celebrating.  However, Marriott is hosting lunch for our admins today and I will mention it at lunch.
As a side bar an office park I used to drive by had a statute of St. George in front of it, probably about 7 feet tall, in chrome.  I always thought it looked out of place, not a church in sight.

That's a shame gee - if I were in charge it would be a day off for everyone for all special days, not just a lunch. Smiley

Jess - on your behalf I did a hay nonny nonny during lunch.

Atlanta - "Here's a strange..." did I get the right Paul Harvey? How nice that Marriott is hosting a lunch for you - did you mention St George?

It was also Confederate Memorial Day - someday the south will rise again.  Our State Governor has to reapprove the holiday each year and yes all state offices close!  Yeeee Haaaawww - I'm still practicing my rebel yell.

Thank you - although I'm here a day late.   Grin  We always used to celebrate St George's Day when I was a child and, in my own family, we have a special dinner to celebrate each year.
