Like others, I thank people all the time, whether they expect it or not, no matter who they are or what job they do.
I think it's important to thank those that go the extra mile. I have appreciated help and support in the past when starting a new job and likewise I have done the same for others.
It takes very little effort to be helpful and in return a thank you goes a long way. It may sound like an every day phrase, but believe me, it is noticed if not said.
If individuals cannot say thank you once in a while, then they are obviously very selfish or have no manners.
