Web Cast

With the current economic climate, my company is looking at alternatives to travel (which can be quite expensive). The idea of doing web casts has come up, does anyone currently do web casts with their company? Best practices, suggestions, any info you can share would be appreciated.

I used to dial into webcasts in my previous company (not the most recent one). We had an admin network and a webcast was broadcast every quarter or so with speakers and issues on topics relating to our daily work.
I have also attended meetings where we have used video conferencing, where more than one site has dialed into a central point and we conducted the meeting regardless of location.
Both of these are useful when travel is not possible, however it is good to test these facilities are in working order prior to the meeting to ensure all parties can connect or dial in.

We use webex, video conferencing and teleconferencing daily. Check the leading phone carriers who offer these services. Companies can usually negotiate a contract for these services with reduced rates if the volume is adequate.
